Niek van der Pas is Lead Data Centre Expert for Legrand, based in the Netherlands at Minkels is European Coordinator for Data Centre Standards for Legrand. Niek is author of various white papers on data centre cooling, energy, power monitoring and earthing. Recent developments in artificial intelligence are his focus with advice and presentations on the impact of AI on data centre design. He is convenor of the ISO/IEC JTC 1 SC39 Sustainability, IT and data centres workgroup 1 Resource Efficient Data Centres where KPIs like PUE are standardised. Niek has contributed to several EU projects including ‘EU Code of Conduct on Energy Efficient Data Centres’ and acted as Vice chair of the Drafting Group for the Development of The EU Assessment Framework for Data Centres in the Context of Activity 8.1 in the Taxonomy Climate Delegated Act and is stakeholder in the development of the EU Energy Efficiency Directive recast. Niek is chairman of the Dutch standardization NEN committee ‘Computerruimten en datacenters’. Niek is since its inception in 2009 involved in the development of the EN 50600 Series and is member of the CEN-CENELEC-ETSI Coordination Group on Green Data Centres (CG GDC) where standardisation and EU policy meet.
